tellus fabulas : (Latin) roughly translates to earth stories
My name is Mychelle, and I am an interdisciplinary artist working from a base of clay sculpture. Drawing from observations, in-depth research, lived experiences, and fiction, I combine ceramic pieces with other materials to create experiential sculptures. My hope is that my work invites others to be curious about and motivated to participate in new ways with the world around them. I am especially attracted to themes of loss and kinship, and I often use metaphors from nature to explore social and personal dialectics. For me, creating is a way of advocating while also working through my internal landscape.
