Mychelle is an interdisciplinary artist working from a sculptural base of clay. Her art explores the natural world, connection, loss, and mending as well as a fair bit of humor. Mychelle draws from observations, in-depth research, lived experiences, and fiction, combining ceramic pieces with other materials both natural and fabricated to create narrative works of sculpture, film, performance, interactive installations, and experimental engagement.

With frequent relocations during childhood and and several different iterations of family throughout her life, Mychelle’s work is focused on displacement and grief along with kinship and repair encompassing metaphors from the natural world as a conceptual basis.

Mychelle earned a Master’s degree in Art Therapy from Marylhurst University. Her work has been shown locally and nationally including at Touchstone Gallery in Washington, DC, Fishbowl Gallery in Seattle, WA, Shockboxx Gallery, Hermosa Beach, CA and the Oregon Governor’s Mansion, and in 2021 she received a third place award for her work included in the Art Fluent show, Connection. Mychelle lives in Portland, Oregon where in addition to her artistic practice she also works as a therapist.
